"They're unnerved. They're concerned. They say this kind of letter is not really normal.[Sen. Ed Markey] sent a letter to Trump warning that if people are penalized for simply doing their jobs that it's going to amount to an 'illegal political witch hunt' — that's a quote. The Union of Concerned Scientists also issued a statement saying this seems designed to intimidate workers. And they said it, quote, 'smacks of McCarthyism.'"

A Republican United States Senator form the state of Virginia, Richard Black, has hinted that when it comes to dealing with ISIS, Obama's administration's current policy is to only engage them in battle, when it does not conflict with coalition members' interests. He also went on to say, “I think ISIS is often used as a tool between Turkey and the United States and as long as they are useful to one of those parties they are protected and when they are not useful they are not protected.” Black also said that ISIS has served as a “tool of Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, the United States and NATO forces from the very beginning of the conflict in Syria."

Reports have recently surfaced from the CIA alledgedly linking Russia to the hacking of both the Republican National Committee and the Democratic National Committee; however, the reports state that the hackers only released emails critical of Hillary Clinton (which surfaced on WikiLeaks and fueled the John Podesta PizzaGate conspiracy). Meanwhile, Donald Trump referenced these charges as "ridiculous" and his administration team released the following statement: “These are the same people that said Saddam Hussein had weapons of mass destruction. The election ended a long time ago in one of the biggest Electoral College victories in history. It’s now time to move on and ‘Make America Great Again.'”

The chair of the Ways and Means Committee, House representative Sam Johnson, introduced legislation to significantly cut Social Security. Johnson, who is also the chair of the Social Security committee, introduced a bill that would slash benefits, adds means testing and raise the retirement age from 67 to 69.

For most workers, the bill would cut Social Security benefits substantially; the Social Security’s Office of the Actuary calculated workers making around $50,000 would see checks shrink by between 11% and 35%.

During his electoral run, Donald Trump promised pro union voters better trade agreements and domestic job protections; however, his latest Twitter attack on a union official and his appointment of a Secretary of Labor with anti worker's rights views would seem to hint otherwise.
